Be Thankful

"He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has." I read this quote this week, and I know Thanksgiving is over but it was interesting to me that I coincidently read this around that time. It brought to my mind that everywhere you turn somebody is always complaining about something they want or something they don't have, including me. I realized with this quote that all of us have somehting to be thankful for, and the people that live in this country have much to be thankful for, even though some have more than others. The main point is no matter what, always remember to be thankful for the things you do have, including the most precious of all, life.

Help Somebody Out

"You must give some time to your fellowman. Even if it's a little thing do something for those who have need of help, something for which you get no pay but the privilege of doing it. For remembeer, you don't live in a world all your own. Your brothers are here, too." Do you believe in helping people? Do you believe that ultimate success and happiness is achieved when you have also helped others achieve it? The partial quote above is stating that such is true. I believe in this also; I think our world is full of selfish people that don't try and help one another or share successful tips to others. Our world is full of greed, and I believe more people should do what is said above, and then maybe they will realize true happiness and feel whole inside. I think its extremely important and a huge part of life to just help out whenever the chance arrises. What do you think?

Taking Risks

I recently read another quote out of my short story "Strenght For a Man's Heart," and the quote said this: "Progress always involves risk; you can't steal second base and keep your foot on first." This quote is obviously in reference to baseball, but it's also trying to convey a lesson in life. I think risk is ironically a pretty risky line to cross. When does risk cross the line over to stupidity? I believe this quote is correct and everyone should take risks in life to get out of it all they can. But people that take stupid risks that don't have an ultimate successful goal are the ones that cross into stupidity. For example, to risk your life jumping out of an airplane to sky dive...or to risk your life dying for your country instead of being home to protect your indiviual family? What are risks and what is stupidity, and where is the boudary drawn? What's your opinion

Money

"The golden age only comes to men when they have forgotten gold." (G.K. Chesterton).... I read this quote in a book called "Strength for a Man's Heart," which is a short story of poems and quotes by multiple authors. I chose this quote because to me, our society has totally lost sight of life and what the goal of life is. Everybody today is so concentrated on money and materialistic items that nobody is happy because they never get what they want; they are always wanting more. It seems most of the people you see that are truly happy are people that don't really have a lot of money. I think people should stop concentrating so much on money and start concentrating on being morally happy with themselves, and helping others achieve the same goal. I think this quote is very true because the people that concentrate on love, faith, family, and helping others, are the people that are really happy. I know plenty of people with great jobs and tons of money who seemingly hate their lives. Why is this? And what does it take for somebody to truly "forget the gold?" I think the answer is found by using your money for things you need and using it for things that make your love, family, and faith come closer togther. And I think it is also found when you help others with it. Money is nice to have, but happiness comes with your internal actions, not your external materials. What is your opinion?

Randy Moss

This week, the Minnesota Vikings, out of nowhere, let star reciever Randy Moss go after just one month of having him aqcuired. Randy Moss was traded to the Vikings one month ago for a 3rd round pick to the New England Patriots. A 3rd round pick is a highly valued trade, so why did the Vikings choose to let such an important trade seemingly go down the drain?

Head Coach Brad Childress basically told the media that it was because Randy wasn't the person the Vikings needed around their camp. However, all Randy did was hug a few of his former teammates from the Patriots after the Vikings loss last Sunday. And in his press conference, Randy was very complementative toward the Patriots. Although he may have been somewhat degrating to the Vikings, was a hug and a few words worth letting him go? Or was it the fact that Brad Childress has recently had trouble controlling his team, and he just wanted to show the world he was in control no matter who walked in camp?

Randy Moss is now on the Titans, but everybody is still wondering why this whole scandal took place. In my opinion, Brad Childress is at fault and Randy Moss should still be a Viking. What are everybody else's opinions?
